Troubleshooting LiveMIC issues
Occasionally, LiveMIC doesn't connect to the studio. This is usually due to an issue with PlayoutONE's Studio Monitor or Audio Engine, running on the server or on-air PlayoutONE Pro machine.
There are several things you can check to try and quickly resolve LiveMIC issues:
🔊 Check Audio Engine or Studio Monitor
The first thing to check is whether the Audio Engine or Studio Monitor application is running.
Audio Engine can run on a studio playout PC or server, while Studio Monitor is usually on your on-air machine. They will usually be visible in the Windows taskbar, but can sometimes be hidden in the system tray (usually the bottom right corner of your screen, next to the clock)
If you can't see Audio Engine or Studio Monitor running, launch it by double-clicking on the icon on the desktop.
Stations without Audio Engine: If Studio Monitor is already running, it might be a good idea to restart the application. Close it, wait a few seconds, then re-open it by double-clicking the desktop icon.
Stations using Audio Engine: There is a seperate process for restarting LiveMIC in the Audio Engine to avoid taking your station off the air. Find out more.
🎙️ Check LiveMIC is configured correctly
On the Settings screen in Studio Monitor, check that the following is set correctly:
- Monitor PC: This should be set to the PC name of the PC running PlayoutONE Monitor, usually your PlayoutONE Server.
- Station: The desired station should be selected from the drop-down list.
- Studio Monitor should be showing Connected and LiveMIC Active as in the screenshot below.
- Finally, check there are no errors in the log display. You should be able to see a LiveMIC launched entry when Studio Monitor was last launched.
Now, click the WebVT LiveMIC button.
Check you can access your WebVT on the PC running Studio Monitor by copying and pasting the WebVT URL into a web browser.
Under LiveMIC Control, the status should show ready, the Studio (Send) and Presenter/Jock (Recieve) should be set to the correct soundcard devices and both be showing as ON.
🚦 LiveMIC just says "Waiting"
