Disable Windows Updates

We recommend on all mission critical machines that windows updates are turned off to prevent interference with the automation machine and sql server. Follow steps below to disable Windows updates.

Disable Windows Updates

1. From the run box, type gpedit.msc and click OK. To access the run box just right click on the windows icon in the bottom left of the desktop.

2. Navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update

3. Enable the following policies

'Do not connect to any Windows Update Locations'
'No auto restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations'
'Remove access to use all Windows Update features

4. Enable Policy 'Specify intranet Microsoft Update service location'. Once enabled, this policy will require additional settings. Type "http" into the fields as shown below

5. Restart the computer.
